French Immersion Programmes help kids understand the language better

This is a form of education wherein a non French speaking child is educated in French. The child would learn all subjects such as geography, history and science through the French medium. UK and France have several schools that are partners and impart the French immersion programme. Students are given the opportunity to improvise on their language skills directly with other French students of the same age group. Children learn faster when there is a friendly atmosphere amongst activities and games.

There are certified professional agencies who take up the task of bringing French and British schools together, the schools can choose their partners and the agency would arrange for the French immersion programme with them . The programme would consist of a school visit and a shared residential programme as well. The school visit would consist of a couple of days stay where the students experience lessons in authentic French and get an insight into the school life of a French student , also gets to compare how it is different from their day to day routine. The residential programme ensures that the students interact with their French counterparts through sports and team building activities, all the while improving their language skills.

A historical study can also be included if the school curriculum prescribes the same as France has no dearth of historical sites. Even entertainment programmes are held in the evenings using French medium to increase the communication between students. French Immersion programmes benefit the student not only in improving their language but they also gain immense knowledge of the French culture, tradition and life style.

The FLIP project encourages local students to become involved in communal & charitable giving in Gibraltar. Visit http://www.flip.gi for more information.
